PADI Instructor Examination ( IE )

PADI Instructor Examinations ( IEs ) are standardized, objective evaluations conducted by Instructor Examiners representing one of PADI’s international offices. The PADI IE tests the Instructor candidate’s dive knowledge, teaching ability, skill level, understanding of the PADI System, attitude and professionalism. Instructor candidates become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors only after successfully completing an IE. | PADI Five Star Instructor Development Centers meet all PADI Five Star Dive Center standards and provides the same level of service. They also meet additional training requirements and offer PADI Instructor-level training. If your goal is to become a PADI Scuba Instructor find a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center near you, by visiting the online PADI Dive Shop Locator.

After you complete your IDC, you demonstrate what you’ve learned in the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). Here a PADI Instructor Examiner independently and objectively assesses your knowledge and skills, testing everything from dive theory to PADI training standards. PADI is the only certification organization that requires an objective, independent examination to qualify as a professional instructor. Instructor candidates become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors only after successfully completing an IE. This balanced and consistent evaluation process is one of the hallmarks that makes PADI professionals the most demanded and respected instructors in the dive industry.
