| At Scuba Center we've been teaching scuba
diving for 35 years. We were Minnesota's first PADI 5 Star Training Facility and
have grown to become Minnesota's largest Scuba School. |
| We feature certification from PADI, the worlds largest diver training
organization. PADI Instructors, Assistant
Instructors and Divemasters teach and offer diving
services in more than 180 countries. From Open Water to Instructor and beyond, Scuba
Center is your source for quality education. Scuba Center is
proud to have a professional development staff that includes two PADI Course Directors, several
PADI IDC Staff Instructors, and numerous other PADI professionals. Located only a few miles
from the Minneapolis / St. Paul
International Airport, our programs are convenient for both local and traveling
students. If you will be joining us from outside the Twin Cities, you will also be
able to find a broad range of hotels and

- Divemaster -- Whether or not you're on a career path, the PADI Divemaster course can expand
your capabilities and make you a better diver. The PADI Divemaster course will
develop your leadership abilities and expand your diving knowledge and watermanship skills
to a professional level. If your love of diving interests you in making it a
career, the PADI Divemaster course is also the first step on the Go Pro professional
pathway leading to the PADI Instructor level.
|
- Assistant Instructor -- The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) program will build upon skills you learned
in previous classes and prepare you for the IDC. PADI Assistant Instructors can teach
academic presentations and assist Instructors in evaluating Open Water Diver surface
skills. They can also conduct Discover Scuba and Project Aware Specialty courses. This
newly revised format meets the requirements of the first half of the PADI
IDC (Instructor Development Course).
|
- IDC (Instructor Development Course) -- If you enjoy diving, travel, and adventure, why not make it a career (or a
second career)? If you are ready for the challenges and rewards that come with being
a Scuba Instructor, the PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course) is waiting for you. Completion of the IDC will prepare
you to attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
|
- Instructor Orientation Course ( IOC ) -- The IOC is designed for the diving Instructor from another agency who is
interested in becoming a PADI Instructor. The IOC acknowledges that you are an
experienced educator who only needs an orientation to the PADI system. After
completing this condensed course, you will be prepared to attend the PADI Instructor Exam
(IE). Contact us for more details.
|
- Instructor Examination ( IE ) -- PADI IEs are standardized, objective evaluations conducted by Instructor
Examiners representing one of PADIs international offices. The PADI IE tests the
Instructor candidates dive knowledge, teaching ability, skill level, understanding
of the PADI System, attitude and professionalism. Instructor candidates become PADI Open
Water Scuba Instructors only after successfully completing an IE.
|
- Master Scuba Diver Trainer ( MSDT ) -- To train your students to the highest non-professional dive level in the
PADI system, you'll want to become a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. To attain this
rating you must hold five PADI Specialty Instructor certifications and have certified at
least 25 students. Upon completion of all requirements you may apply directly to PADI.
Consult your Instructor manual for the most current requirements.
|
- IDC Staff Instructor -- IDC Staff Instructors are highly trained professionals who can train and
certify PADI Assistant Instructors and assist Course Directors in training PADI Open Water
Scuba Instructors. During the IDC Staff Instructor course you will audit a complete IDC
(Instructor Development Course) and further master Instructor-level dive theory.
|
- Master Instructor -- PADI Master
Instructors can teach Assistant Instructors and assist in the IDC
(Instructor Development Course) and other Instructor level
programs. This is also one of the final steps in preparing to pursue the Course Director
rating. To become a Master Instructor you must hold IDC Staff Instructor and EFR
Instructor certifications. After having certified at least 150 students (to specific
levels) you may apply directly to PADI. Consult your Instructor manual for the most
current requirements.

Divemasters, Assistant Instructors, and Instructors without previous CPR and First Aid
Instructor credentials (example - Medic First Aid). We also offer update sessions
for Instructors with prior credentials and student level Emergency First Response courses.
|
- DAN
Instructor Qualification Course IQC -- DAN Instructors are
scuba diving educators who want to offer dive safety programs to
their students. To become a DAN Instructor, you must participate
in a DAN Instructor Qualification Course (IQC). The IQC follows a
modular format. There is a Core Module and then a separate module
representing each training program.
|

Center can offer you many PADI Specialty Instructor training opportunities which will
