OTS Buddy Phone D2 Through-Water Tranceivers
OTS Buddy Phone underwater communications for AGA full face masks -- Shown with MKII-G (Gold Silicone) -- MKII-BUD uses ultrasonic upper single sideband for transmission. The The MKII-BUD Buddy Phone comes complete with a AGA cover plate with Push-to-talk button, a patented OTS HotMic (studio-quality, water proof microphone), and the main transceiver. Using "Digital Signal Processing" (DSP) techniques, the Buddy Phone produces uncompromising speech clarity. Voice Menu: When you submerge with a D2 Buddy Phone, you will hear the voice system say "Buddy Phone ON, frequency A (B), channel one (four), volume High (Medium, Low)," depending on the prior dive's settings. Changing a setting is easy and can be done while underwater. Depress the Push-to-talk switch (PTT) three times quickly and hold the third depression until you hear "main menu - volume, channel, continuous transmit." When you hear the main menu selections, simply depress the PTT to select one of the choices. The unit will make the selection and go back to the receive mode. If you don't make a selection after the menu repeats twice, the D2 Buddy Phone goes out of the main selection menu and back to the receive mode (see operators manual for a more detail explanation) (note: continuous transmit mode allows the user to talk, hands free. This was requested by many movie makers and scientist who talk on camera often).

Earphone/Microphone Assemblies
OTS E/M Assemblies are designed to allow the user to connect either Hard-wire or Through-water communications to a helmet or full face mask (ffm). All standard E/M Assemblies include a Hi-Use connector, Push-to-Talk (PTT) button (used only for through-water communications), dual 150-ohm earphones, and earphone covers. Due to the many styles of ffm on the market... configurations can be endless depending on the application. In addition to supporting different installation methods for each FFM, E/M Assemblies can be configured with either one of these two microphones elements:

  • ME-16R Hot Mic ® noise canceling, salt-water resistant, pressure-resistant studio quality microphone (most common)

  • Super Mic is a water proof, pressure tolerant ceramic microphone with a compact, lightweight design and noise cancelling properties reducing background noises for clearer communications
