Divers Alert Network ( DAN ) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 in association with Duke University Medical Center (DUMC) to provide expert medical information and advice to the diving public.  DAN provides emergency medical advice as well as assistance and insurance for underwater diving injuries.  DAN Recompression Chamber support programs have provided assistance to Hyperbaric facilities around the world.  DAN is also a leader in research to prevent injuries and to promote diving safety.  Tracking diving accident statistics and researching topics such as flying after diving are just a few examples.
