On
track to become the first climate-resilient nation in the world and most
recently named a top destination to visit in 2020 by Condé Nast
Traveler, Dominica remains unspoilt by the impacts of mass tourism and
offers an ethical, environmentally supportive option for travelers.
Embraced by lush foliage and secluded beaches throughout, the island
fosters one’s most dream-like fascinations. With world-class diving,
whale watching and boundless wildlife amongst the Caribbean’s longest
hiking trail and only natural World Heritage site, Dominica realizes
adventurous living amidst untrammeled natural splendour. Meander the
island’s thermal spas, 365 rivers, dramatic waterfalls, well-preserved
colonial architecture and the last remaining home of the indigenous
Kalinago peoples: all of this and much more can be experienced while
staying at Fort Young. |
|
Where
city, reef and rainforest converge, Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort is a
full-service, heritage hotel on the Caribbean Sea. Their coveted oceanfront
placement amidst Dominica’s vibrant capital, Roseau, provides unmatched
access to the heart of the island, while modern, boutique-style
accommodations and peerless amenities complete an idyllic Caribbean holiday.
From seaside al fresco dining, entertainment and duty-free shopping on the
resort’s waterfront, to the neighboring French Quarter’s Saturday markets
and unfathomable adventures at your doorstep — waterfall hikes, hot spring
soaks, rainforest walks and world-class scuba diving right off the dock —
Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort is your gateway to experiencing Dominica by
both land and sea.

|
Set along the coastline of the Caribbean Sea amidst Dominica’s vibrant
capital city, Roseau, our seaside resort pairs warm hospitality and
thoughtful amenities with boundless coastal and cultural activities right at
your doorstep. Experience world-class diving, whale watching and island
wildlife amongst the Caribbean’s longest hiking trail. Meander the island’s
thermal spas, 365 rivers, dramatic waterfalls and well-preserved colonial
architecture. Refuel over traditional island dishes, relax at the waterfront
Zemi Spa or recharge with a guided yoga flow. All of this—and much
more—awaits. |

With
the extensive knowledge, resources and facilities of Dominica’s top dive
operation, Fort Young Dive provides divers with the utmost personal
attention to ensure an unforgettable underwater experience. The dive
operation consists of a fully-stocked dive retail shop, teaching facilities,
rental gear room, rinse tanks, camera tables and outdoor showers—all located
dockside for convenient boat access. Fort Young Dive’s boats depart multiple
times a day to the island’s various dive sites and can easily accommodate
both divers and crew with a spacious deck, dedicated camera table, dry
storage, fresh water shower, head and large rinse buckets.
Fort Young Dive also offers a unique resort diving experience, making it
convenient and comfortable for guests to make a splash at any time of day.
Tanks are provided on the dock for the guests of Fort Young Dive on
Dominica. Before going on your first boat dive you will receive a mandatory
dive orientation in which you will fill out the necessary paperwork but also
receive all the information that is needed to have a pleasant week of
diving. Afterwards a check-out dive in front of the dive shop will make sure
you and your equipment are in sync.
Dominica's reefs are made up of volcanic
formations of ledges, crevices and swim throughs. These formations give
refuge to a myriad of small critters considered rare in other destinations.
Seahorses and frogfish are common and almost guaranteed sightings for divers
on a weeklong package. Other rarer critters like batfish, flying gurnards,
yellow head jawfish, upside-down jelly fish and flamingo tongue snails can
be found if you carefully search the reefs.
Their reputation as the
region’s most colorful diving is due to the profusion of sponge life and
crinoids. First time divers in Dominica will be amazed at the variety of
color, from yellow tube sponges, azure vase sponges, pink vase sponges,
green finger sponges, lavender rope sponges to crinoids of every hue.
