Lake Wazee dive and underwater scooter demo.

July 28, 2024

Local Dive Adventure: Lake Wazee - Black Rive Falls, Wisconsin

Instructor / Host: Tom and Emily Pederson    (Click here if you have questions)

Join Tom and Emily for a day of clear freshwater diving at Lake Wazee just a little over 2 hours east of the Twin Cities. The deep, spring fed, lake is a mecca for Midwest divers. Formally an open pit iron mine, it is the deepest lake in Wisconsin. To add to your diving enjoyment, Scuba Center will be sponsoring an underwater scooter demo. Cruise through the clear water among the sunken trees, schools of bait fish and smallmouth bass at up to 4 miles an hour. You will have the opportunity to try out the newest generation of underwater scooters. The Lefeet S1 Pro is light and small enough to pack as a carry-on. Yet, it has the power of units much larger in size.

We will meet at the Bluegill Alley dive site at Wazee at 10:00am. Tom and Emily will be onsite all day. Make it a full day of diving by planning an additional dive at one of the numerous dive sites on the lake.
Pre registration is required. Group size is limited. Fee $25

Wazee Lake:

The focal point of the 1300-acre recreation area is Wazee Lake. The lake is 146 acres in size and is the clearest and deepest inland lake in Wisconsin. Wazee Lake has become the most popular scuba diving site in the Midwest, attracting more than 1000 divers annually. It is also host to a two-tier fishery including two species of trout, smallmouth bass, bluegills and walleye. The lake is non-motorized to ensure protection of the pristine water quality, and to promote a "quiet" recreational experience. The area offers 12 rustic campsites with pit toilets and water, 9 miles of hiking trail, 3 miles of surfaced bicycle trail, a large beach, picnic areas, handicap fishing pier, boat launch and several scenic vistas of the surrounding forest land.
