PADI Advanced Public Safety Diver
|
Public
safety diving requires special training and a significantly different
mindset than recreational diving. The PADI Advanced Public Safety Diver
prepares you for more challenging public safety diving operations away from
shore. Practice vehicle-related victim rescue and how to mark, recover and
handle evidence. Prepare for missions away from shore. Gain experience
through realistic scenarios and learn about the law enforcement aspects of
public safety diving, such as how to mark and collect evidence. |
|
The eLearning content explains the specialized procedures, equipment, scene
handling techniques, communications, search and rescue techniques, and
documentation procedures for the Advanced Public Safety Diver course. During
six open water dives, you will practice different search patterns and
evidence collection. Work as a team to complete simulated victim rescue
missions. |

Statement of Understanding: |
-
This course is not intended or
designed to make the diver or the diver's team a public safety
dive rescue unit capable of responding to every call for rescue
service. Creating a dive rescue unit has considerable financial,
training, equipment, and personnel requirements.
-
With this in mind, this course is
designed to better equip students with the skills needed to
respond to the unforeseen situations and better prepare them to
meet the challenges a public safety diver might face.
-
This course covers basic public
safety diver rescue skills. It does not cover every environment,
condition, situation or rescue a public safety diver might
encounter.
-
This course does not cover
environments such as swift water, current, deep water,
contaminated water, low head dams, hydraulics, overhead
environments, ice, etc. These conditions and others like them
require more advanced training, equipment and experience.
-
Advanced Public Safety Diver
training does not supersede established standards, your agency,
state, county, or country's policy, or recognized Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP).
-
This course does not address the
NFPA 1670 Standards relating to the disciplines of Ice 9.3.7,
Surf 9.2.8, or Swift Water 9.3.9.
