PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty | Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and the rise of digital underwater photography has made it easier and more fun than ever. This is why there are actually two PADI underwater photography courses. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly with today modern digital equipment, whether you use a point-and-shoot snap camera or a sophisticated D-SLR like the pros. The PADI Underwater Photographer course is a more traditional photography course designed for conventional film equipment.
  • Choosing and using modern digital cameras and underwater housings
  • Using the PADI SEA method for getting great shots quickly

Prerequisite: PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization). However, you can take the course as a snorkeler and receive a nondiving certification.

What do I need to do before class?:
Read the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty manual and complete the knowledge reviews. You also need to complete a PADI Student Record File (which includes a Medical Statement).  If you answer yes to any of the medical history questions, we must require a signed physicians approval before you participate. You can download and review the PADI Medical Statement here. Please print a copy to take to your physician for their approval and signature if required.
Digital Underwater Photographer Schedule: Class sessions Thurs. evenings 7 - 10pm; Dives and briefing / planning, Sat. and Sun. at Square Lake near Stillwater, Minnesota.
